Elder Stucki

Oh family! I love hearing from you so much! I´m seriously just smiling after reading your descriptions of whats going on at home and how you all feel about it. Okay sorry that the email last week was lacking a bit. Lets just say the computers here could used to be upgraded. So they´re not too hot. but i´m working on sending pictures. This week has been crazy, it was hard at times because it was really slow but other times made me so happy! I´ll try to answer your questions first though.

I´m doing so great! I love it here and I´m learning the language pretty fast. But it sure takes a lot of brain power to try to focus on what people are saying all day. In our ward there are supposedly a ton of people but i think less than 50 come each week. It was so unreal! We had our first investigator come to church yesterday. The thing about here is, the people seriously LOVE to talk. It´s really hard to say things because they never stop talking. So we can usually get into a few houses when we try, and we can talk, but the really hard part is getting them to do anything about it. They´re almost all catholic and just say that they believe in the bible and jesus too so it´s all cool. So... we´re working on that. As for the food? A whole bunch of rice. Lots of bananas prepared in ways i´ve never heard of (smashed and then fried, cut up with sauce, in soup, with beans, etc.) We usually have a thick piece of meat that´s really hard to chew, haha, and then some lettuce stuff and always a soup. At Every house we visit, regardless of whether they know us or not they bring us a glass of juice. 90% of the juices here that i have on a normal day i´d never heard of before. I can barely spell them but I like this one called guanabana. We make our own food for breakfast and for dinner but everyday they feed us lunch and the lunches are HUGE. it´s rediculous. Luckily for me, my companion is the man so when there´s something that i´ve been eating but just can´t cram down the last little bit when they´re not looking he eats it. Lol. At our apartment when we cook we usually make juice and then find something else to accompany it. Hah. Like eggs, this one day we made French Toast (sooo good. thanks Jordan), pastas, and other funky stuff. It´s sweet. Uhh at the first we saw the other elders quite a bit but now we don´t. We only see the people in our district once a week to have a meeting and sometimes on sunday so that´s cool. I´ll hopefully get some time to talk about our investigators. Oh and if you send something, go for the mission office.

As for my companion he´s great! I love working with him. I definately am feeling this companionship more than my last one. Mostly because Elder Condori loves to work but he´s also really nice when it comes to helping me out and just being a friend. It´s probably annoying for him because literally all day he´s explaining crazy stuff to me in spanish but it seems like he enjoys it. We have fun. The only crazy part is he´s trying to explain something i don´t understand, in a language i don´t know. haha. But it usually always works out. I´m really glad how open he is to listen to my suggestions or ideas, I swear everytime we pass a house and I say, ¨should we go back?¨ and we just look at each other. and then we finally decide to go back, they let us in. It´s interesting because the area were in is supposedly pretty poor and a little dangerous. We won´t have any problems though because there´s a map with the areas crossed out that we can´t go in so we should be good.

It´s super different here because unlike alpine where everything is tranquil here, everything is Super loud like i was saying. There´s always people with Huge speakers outside their house just blasting spanish music and chilling. It´s different because theres a part of our house right next to our bedroom that is bars for a window so you cant just close it and there´s always loud music playing right outside literally Always. So i hope i´ll get used to that because it makes it interesting to sleep. Hah. It´s different how people will just openly shout ¨mono¨at you because your white. hah. Either mono or gringo. It depends. But i really enjoy it here.

Luckily i havent really gotten too sick so far but that hardest part is just its really tiring walking around all day and thinking so hard in spanish and then the people you´ve set up appointments with just dont show up, or don´t answer the door. There was this one day last week when we had like 5 appointments in a row where nobody showed up. But the awesome stuff is when they actually do show up. The lady who came to church yesterday Maribel has a husband, Walter, and when we went back for the second time it was sweet because they had read and just really liked what we were sharing. It´s awesome to see people be excited to hear this. Something cool happened yesterday. Well a few days ago we were at this little tienda making a call ( here, you can only call cell phones from other cell phones so you have to go out in the streets and pay to use one) and the lady who owned the store (the store is a part of her house) asked us who we were. We talked for a while and asked if we could come over and share a little more on Sunday. She was really interested and said "sure". So when we went back(yesterday) she was there, her dad was there, her sister, her neighbor, and her two daughters! They all listened and talked to us and were so Awesome I can´t believe it! I really have a lot of hope for this family and it was a miracle how we got to be with all of them.

Well we´re working and although it feels a little slow sometimes I know we´ll see some miracles. I sure love the mission field. And to mom for you in primary, I´d have to say one of the single most important things is to study the scriptures. Because when you spend your own time doing that and you want to learn, you´ll grow a lot and learn a ton. Thanks for everything family! I´ll try to send some pictures right now. And normally we´ll try to send the emails at 11 or 11:30. There´s a whole bunch to write but not a whole bunch of time. Hah. but the main thing is that I love you all and i´m doing great! Have fun!
