Conference in Colombia

HOLY SMOKES! That conference was absolutely crazy! It sounds like you all loved it and i Loved it too. I got to watch in our churchhouse but it was on a small computer screen. For english they let us (3 north american missionaries) watch together on the lds website. I honestly loved this conference so much. To be some of the most impactful were Boyd K. Packers talk that i named ´doing it the right way- life´. I loved the talk President monson gave about standing for what you believe, For some reason i liked the talk that Elain s. Dalton gave about raising (children) a daughter, and Elder Hollands talk was probably the most powerhouse talk i´ve heard in a conference session. Wow. Before conference i was thinking a whole bunch about what i could do to be better and what i could look for in conference but everything was just so vague that i didnt know. I started looking through my papers that i brought from home, i read some of them, found a book that i believe dad gave me ´believing christ´ (sorry if you didn´t give it to me and i just took it) and some inspirational thoughts from Nana. I read them but didnt really think anything of it and just prayed to hear and learn the things i needed to in conference. Whats crazy is that of the things i read, almost Every Single One was mentioned in conference. Some things i learned (in the really breif version)-

I learned that Blessed are those who continually try to keep the commandments of God and go unto him in prayer. I was thinking about this and it related to something i read in that book believing christ. It doesnt say blessed are those who are perfect. It says blessed are those who are Continually trying. Who actually Really want to be doing the right thing and are giving it everything they have to do it. But we´re human and we´re definately not perfect and sometimes we fall. In thinking about this and listening to conference i learned a lot about Christ. Firstly is that he´s our Savior. If we weren´t sinners we wouldn´t need to be saved. I love so much how the prophets promise us, no matter what you´ve done, no matter what, you can come back, you can repent. Christ can literally Save us. We just need to go to him.

I also learn A Whole bunch about prayer. I honestly can´t share all because it was so much, hah. But i realized how important the sincere, humble, and daily prayer is. It´s something that will save us. I learned a lot about the scriptures and about their power. About how we can recieve personal revelation through them and how if we earnestly study them daily god will give us strength we never could have imagined.

Im sorry i cant expound very much about the things i´ve learned but i hope you can think about them. Sincerely think about the things in your life that the prophets have told us and think of how you can improve or apply it. Thats what i am trying to do and i´ve gotten a ton out of it all.

In one of the last things i learned was when i heard someone quote the quote nana gave me that i finally realized is so powerful. ´There is no chance, no fate, no destiny, that can circumvent or hinder or control, the firm resolve, of a determined soul´. This is what we need for all of this to work. We need to be determined to do it. And to keep doing it for the rest of our lives. One of the speakers talked about how if we can just keep pushing on past the point when everyone else would have quit, that really when we will be able to get all of the blessing God has to offer us and all of the lessons we need to learn. Something like that. But the principle is the important part.

i wish i could share more about my week but it went so fast i can´t barely remember anything. Conference is all i can remember. Hah. But i guess it´s good i can remember that.

Well i love you family. Thanks for all of your encouragement. Live it up.

Elder Jake Stucki.
